UK Engineering Employment Outlook Q2 2025

The latest Manpower UK Engineering Employment Outlook finds 40% of employers in the engineering space plan no changes to their headcount levels in Q2 (April – June) 2025. Where employers do plan to increase headcount, just 10% intend to add more than 100 workers.

More employers in the sector plan to either make no changes to headcount or decrease headcount than plan to hire in the second quarter.

Among employers who plan to hire, highest demand is for entry level talent – with 41% of employers intending to increase headcount revealing plans to hire candidates at this level. However, with 77% of engineering employers reporting difficulty finding candidates with the skills they need, hiring intentions may not translate into filled vacancies.
