UK Engineering Employment Outlook Q3 2025
The latest Manpower UK Engineering Employment Outlook finds 42% of employers in the engineering space plan to increase their headcount in Q3 (July – Sep) 2025, while 44% plan to keep their current workforce levels steady.
Overall, the UK Engineering Net Employment Outlook for the next quarter is 28%.
Tom Buckell, Brand Leader, Manpower UK says:
“A bell-weather for British industries, the ‘Industrials & Materials’ sector of our survey remains markedly consistent this quarter with only a slight uptick on the year and the quarter. A sector which acts as an indicator of broader levels of spending in the economy, as with investment in infrastructure (both individual and national) we would expect an up-tick overall in hiring. It’s good to see this remain level quarter on quarter this year, with growing uncertainty playing havoc elsewhere in the labour market.”
“Employers can’t rest on their assurance of the market though, skills challenges are a reality in skilled trade positions and the reasons most cited for businesses growing their headcounts in the coming quarter are: business expansion; seeking fresh skills; and branching into new areas. Businesses need to be thinking about the entire skills lifecycle and if they can’t find their next great worker, how can they build that skillset internally with expertise?”
